Defying Gravity

This September, we invite you to join Alternatives For Girls (AFG) as we honor and support the success of homeless and at-risk girls and young women who constantly defy expectations and show boundless hope.

During our one-hour program, you will learn more about AFG's programs, hear from some of the girls and young women we serve, and learn how you can become involved. No ticket is required, though you will be invited to support our crucial programs. Breakfast or hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided.

Each month at Alternatives For Girls, we open our doors and invite our community in to get to know us. In just one hour, visitors learn more about what we do and our history, hear from our CEO, and hear from one of the young women of AFG. The next open houses will be held: Thursday, July 22nd at 9:00 am and Tuesday, August 10th at 5:30 pm. Meet Aria and Amber

At the age of 17, Aria had no where to call her home. She moved from place to place, sleeping on friends' couches, never staying in one place for too long. Until she learned about Alternatives For Girls' Shelter program. Aria is now about to graduate from high school and become a student at Irene's Myomassology Institute. For years, Amber has struggled to keep her life on track. She graduated from high school and enrolled in college, all while moving from one couch to the next. When she discovered that she was pregnant, she decided that she had a find a better way to find stability and build a better life for her and her child.
