I came to AFG because I had nowhere else to go. When I first arrived at AFG's Shelter, I didn't know what to do. I thought, "How long am I going to last here?" and "What going to happen next?" But I quickly started to feel comfortable, and felt stable for the first time.

Now I am a senior in high school. Now I feel like I am independent. The chores, schedule, and meetings at AFG gave me a vivid understanding of what I'm supposed to be. I've become more responsible and stable and I have learned the skills that I need to be successful on my own.

Since being at AFG, I've been able to focus on school and my ultimate passion, music. This is the first time I've been on the honor roll! This year I also produced my own public service announcement and I have a lot more coming up.

Next up, I look forward to going to college and getting my own place. I've learned that if you want anything in life, you have to do it yourself.
